About Us

Sarawak Occupational Safety & Health Professionals’ Association, or also known as SOSHPA (Persatuan Profesional Keselamatan & Kesihatan Pekerjaan Sarawak; PPM-026-13-06092023) was formally established on the 6th September 2023 under the Registration of Societies Act 1966.
History

Sowing the Seeds

SOSHPA’s roots originated during the era of COVID-19 pandemic in 2020 when an effective platform to organise donation and aid for frontline healthcare workers in Sarawak General Hospital was needed. The Occupational Safety & Health Association of Sarawak General Hospital (OSHAS) was then established by the working committee from the then members of Occupational Safety & Health Unit.

OSHAS gained recognition for its pioneering drive to provide a platform for OSH professionals in Sarawak to network and gain new knowledge, not only from those in the healthcare field but also from the industry. Due to the positive response, SOSHPA is thus formed as a post-pandemic vehicle to take OSH development forward and elevate the professionalism of practitioners in Sarawak and beyond.

Vision

SOSHPA aims to be the leading occupational safety and health non-governmental organisation from East Malaysia and aspires to channel the best-in-class networking opportunities for OSH practitioners in Southeast Asia, leveraging on Sarawak's rapid rise as a niche industrial player in the region.

Mission
  1. To achieve common understanding, collaboration and cooperation among members via association activities.
  2. To form working partnerships and affiliations with individuals and entities aligned with the objectives of the association.
  3. To instill awareness among members of the important roles and responsibilities of workers in upholding the image of institutions and the nation.
  4. To organise and implement social, recreational and welfare acvitities for the benefit of members.
  5. To strive for the elevation of the image and good reputation of members representing the field of OSH in Sarawak.
